The project was conceived as a 'living laboratory' where innovation and entrepreneurship in urban technology come together to thrive.
The company behind the project, URB, has a 'zero carbon' vision and accordingly, the building is designed to offset its embodied carbon emissions from construction and operation.
The district is proposed to create 4,000 jobs in green urban tech, education and training as well as being a hub for venture capital companies to provide funding for entrepreneurs.
With a built up area of 140,000 square metres it would potentially be the world's largest urban tech district.
