I love the space in Golden Mile flats: the walk-in closet & the size of the bathroom in the master bedroom make it a perfect living space.

After 5 years in Golden Mile
The space and design of the house, the direct access from garage
Maintenance, management and concierge service and construction shaking and damaging the house
Townhouse of Golden Mile has been my home for the last 5 years, i think we may be the oldest family to live here, a lot of neighbours moved in after us then out.. I just love the space and design of the house, specially that we have our own more… access to house straight from the garage, and the master room is massive and the kids room is really big, we made so many friends here, specially my 2 little girls, the access to the park behind has been great as we were living here before that park was even there, so when they built it, it was probably the only facility this building had to offer us.. In 2010 when we rented we were shown the pool which was filled and a half built gym and we were told that it should finish in 6 months... and this 6 months has been dragging ever since.. and for some reason this is the same answer you get when you ask the concierge.. maybe in 6 month.. don't believe any of it.. As for the concierge, maintenance and the building services in general, they have no idea how to manage a building, or how to fix any issues no matter how small or big.. any problem you will face will be super complicated to solve... Given that i live in a townhouse therefore my contacts are limited as much as possible from all.. I was happy, but the few times i had to schedule maintenance or had leaks or had any trouble in the house whether minor or big, the service i got is very poor compared to the premium that you pay for such a house... Every time you call them, it doesn't matter how small or big your issue is, they will end up sending you a quotation to do a major job.. and after spending a fortune you will realize that the issue has not been resolved, they will come back a few more times after that... Basically we were able to overcome most of the negative issues, like for facilities we had a membership in RIVA beach club, so access to the pool beach and what makes life in the palm special... For Supermarket, as there isn't any around we were able to manage with Geant online and calling the supermarket, or a 20 mins walk to mini mart in shorelines.. For the bad maintenance, you really need to follow up with them, or bring another company to deal with could be faster, we had a few other contacts... but for issues involving pipes or AC you need to deal with them and be prepared to follow up .. a lot! The biggest issue we faced, which is forcing us to move out is the construction... for the last year the amount of noise and the shaking , my whole house shakes! from 6 am to 7 pm every day was just too much! The house is effected badly from the shaking, i have huge cracks on my walls from the ceiling to the ground ... and not just normal paint cracks , there are gaps in the wall.. I freaked out and called the building services , they took pictures of the cracks, promised to have a meeting and discuss it and never came back to me... as expected.. You could even see some cracks on the walls outside the building... Then lately the electricity starting cutting off for a few seconds and back everyday in the same time in the morning from 3 to 6 times , i have complained to building services and I've been told its not a building problem, its a problem in my unit that i should bring in maintenance to sort it out.. not mentioning the lovely view of cranes.. The view used to be one of the beautiful things about this house and the reason why i stayed all these years plus the space of course, and its ruined now and almost impossible to live in... So we are looking to move out now, I will miss the space though :( but the shaking is just too much and is making the house fall apart..Show less

Just bought the apartment , it has great finishing, considerably large size compared to any other 2 bed apartment in Dubai. Very low traffic in and out the Palm, very close proximity to Dubai Marina, Malls and JLT.

Layout and Quality
Pool & beach ( but not an issue )
I used to live in the Dubai Marina with panoramic view to both the Marina and to the Palm, but the noise level, coupled with the layout and lack of storage space and wardrobes, not to mention the traffic was a killer. I have lived here for over a year more… and it's peace and quiet, it feels like a home, the layout count' be better and the standard is really high. No I don't have beach access, but I did not have that in the marina either and living on Palm I have plenty of developments I can choose from, however they do offer us a beach assess in the shoreline for a fraction of the price should I want to, but I have membership else where. The unit is spacious, with a maids room, lots of room for clothing in all rooms and storage, which is a main for me as I don't like anything in my face, and the quality is great. At night I spend most of the time on the very spacioius balcony which is almost like an extra room but outside all I can hear at night is the sound from the water fountain from the park and critters "singing" :)Show less

Noise and lack of facilities
The building and surrounds seem very nice at a first glance. Once you live in the apartment you realize there is no sound proofing and that you hear everything from your neighbours upstairs, downstairs and even from next door (in your bedroom). When people talk in the passage, you more… can hear every single word in your apartment. Pool, gym and facilities are promised but not delivered due to "a legal dispute with the contractor". There is absolutely no consideration for the owners and/or tenants in this development. There isn't even proper access to the park/walking track as it has never been opened in 5 years since the development has been completed. In contrast there are plenty rules and regulations to follow even pertaining to the non existent pool, gym & facilities.Show less

Finishing and the size of teh apartment
No pool, no gym
I’m quite happy with the apartment we are living in. The rooms are very spacious, the finishing is super nice, I never had any problems with my neighbors, so over all it is a good place to live. Now we have a big park just in behind of us where we more… can go for a run or just to walk. There is absolutely no traffic, I can be on the Sheik Zayed Road in just 2 minutes from the parking, which is really great compare to the Marina or to JLT. The only negative thing I can mention is the lack of service that we have. I think we among the very few buildings in Dubai, (in the Marina/JLT/Palm area), without any gym or pool and for the money we pay it would be a bare minimum. The management is keep on saying that next year it will come next year, but so far nothing….. Same thing with the retailer shops, we have been promised that there will be a Waitrose just under us but nothing has been done till now. Also the concierge service is a bit useless. We are paying a lot for it and if we ask them to call us a handy man they refuse to do it and only give us a number.Show less

Golden Mile, Building 2
Peaceful, quiet, park downstairs.
Parking, no gym or swimming pool.
We have moved here after living 2 years in JBR in a 1 BR apartment. The major motivation was that the prices have dropped at that time and continuous traffic jams, noise + dust of the construction in JBR made area much less attractive then it was in 2007. At the more… time we looked at the market, GM was brand new and offered really high standard in terms of finishing, plenty of living space and an environment without major construction work. Also the buildings have very good accessibility from the both directions of Sheikh Zayed road and now also a park with running track with a nice view to Atlantis is available. In general the neighborhood is one of the best in Dubai and you can enjoy some of the five star elements of Dubai (Atlantis, Palm Marine for boats, top hotels with plenty of fine dining options). Finally we moved to a 2 BR apartment on the 6th floor of the building overlooking the GM park which we found better than the other side where you have the view the Dubai Marina skyline, but also a 2 X 4 lane road continuously busy with the traffic leaving the Palm. Since we moved in there were no major issues with apartment beside 2 leaking taps and regular annual AC maintenance. Nevertheless, i tried to list some of the downsides which we experienced throughout the last 5 years and which can be really annoying: 1. No gym or swimming pool. Prices of beach clubs in the area are ridiculously expensive (around 20-40k per year) 2. Access to the Golden Mile park is not possible directly from the building due to a fence left from time of the construction. 3. The building is still not registered as an operating facility (last two buildings are not yet commissioned), so to obtain RERA and other certificates related to the residency are very difficult. 4. The concierge service is just for show, none of the services listed in the booklet is actually working. 5. Parking is limited with very strict access policy. For instance visitors parking is only for 3 hrs and after fine is AED 500. 6. Building do not spend much money on maintenance. For 2 years they are not able to fix a panel to be able call the elevator from the visitors parking level. 7. No decent groceries in the neighborhood, except some small and overpriced small shops in the Shoreline buildings which is difficult to access due to the fence on the east side of the building.Show less
