Studio City
Dubai Studio City is a full scale film and TV production centre with associated residential and hotel accommodation. As of September 2020 only a small part of the area has been developed, mainly around the original studio buildings complex. The rest of the area is still a vast open desert.
Together with Dubai Media City, Dubai Studio City belongs to TECOM Investments, a subsidiary of Dubai Holding.
The development was launched in 2005 and provides facilities and services to companies across the broadcasting, film production, TV, music, and entertainment sectors.
Transport & Access
From Studio City it takes roughly 20 minutes to drive to Dubai Mall, 18 minutes to Palm Jumeirah, 17 minutes to Burj Al Arab and 21 minutes to The Walk JBR.*
Dubai International Airport (DXB) is roughly 35 minutes' drive and the new Al Maktoum International Airport is roughly 27 minutes' drive.*

Facilities available include studios, sound stages, workshops, backlots, sets, water tanks, production offices, recording studios, offices and a business centre for freelancers.
There are also film and television academies, location approval services, and entertainment and retail spaces. The new Studio One Hotel provides a wide selection of restaurants and bars (six!); much needed in this area. Olivara Residences provides some high-end apartments with good facilities including a garden, park and gym facilities, despite being located in the middle of nowhere. The Glitz 1 and Glitz 2 buildings have a few shops and amenities.
Construction of phase one of Dubai Studio City started in June 2007. It includes a 15,500sq ft sound stage and two 25,295sq ft sound stages which were completed in 2008. In addition to the three sound stages there are 18 small studios and 65,000sq ft of production and administration office space housed in four six-storey office buildings and a 15-storey tower. There is also a retail area, a 130,000sq ft warehouse and a similar sized workshop for producing interior and exterior decorations and location shooting sets.
Dubai Studio City offers ‘Boutique Office Studios’ for independent production companies, custom-sized plots for companies to build their own studios and facilities, residential areas for executives and support staff, a business centre for TV and film freelancers, film schools with accredited programs and training institutes that offer workshops and short courses, business and operational support services, facilities management, satellite communication services, production equipment rental, an entertainment centre with a cinema complex, restaurants, theatres and retail stores, a 10,000-seat amphitheatre for large scale musical productions, 1,500 and 3,500-seat open-air amphitheatres for smaller scale performances, and on-campus hotels and apartments to accommodate cast and crew.

There are 20 outlets currently open in Studio City including a gym, a flower shop, seven restaurants, two ladies' salons, a catering kitchen, two men's salons, a butcher, a laundrette, a mini mart, two supermarkets and a pharmacy.

Local Schools
Studio City has many schools nearby including GEMS Metropole School at 0.7 km and Ranches Primary School at 2.5 km.
In terms of performance there are eight schools nearby that have achieved either of two highest government inspection rating of 'Very Good' or 'Outstanding' including Jumeirah English Speaking School Arabian Ranches which has a rating of 'Outstanding' and Kings' School Al Barsha which also has a rating of 'Outstanding'.
