Formerly known as "Mina Rashid," Rashid Yachts & Marina is a AED 25 billion development by the Dubai Creek near Bur Dubai and Deira that combines a new marina with a Riviera-style waterfront residential area overlooking the Arabian Gulf and the Downtown Dubai skyline.
Developer Emaar is undertaking the project in partnership with P&O Marinas, who have made the land available and will continue to develop the marinas and berthing facilities.
Among the many features of the development will be an elite waterfront retail, dining and leisure destination called ‘The Dubai Mall by the Sea’, a floating yacht club, a 12,600 square metre sandy beach, and Dubai’s longest swimming pool.
The marina at Rashid Yachts & Marina will have over 430 wet berths, several of which will be able to accommodate the largest yachts in the world. This it is hoped will boost cruise tourism which is already on the rise in Dubai.
The former ocean liner ‘QE2’, which is now a 13‑deck hotel docked there permanently, will be the centre piece at Mina Rashid. It will provide visitors with an interactive exhibition showcasing its heritage from the 1960s, sailing over 5.6 million miles and carrying over 2.5 million passengers.
There will be a choice of midrise waterfront apartments with promenades and a Venetian-style shopping piazza overlooking the sea. Hotels, a private beach club, interconnected parks, a 500-metre long palm tree-fringed canal, art galleries, a theatre and museum will complete the scene.
Rashid Yachts & Marina will also be linked by a pedestrian bridge to the House of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum, with its museum and theatre.
These new facilities will complement the existing Hamdan bin Mohammed Cruise Terminal, presently operated by P&O Marinas. The terminal has received over 2.3 million visitors since it opened in 2014. Last year it claimed a first when it successfully berthed five international cruise liners carrying a total of 25,000 passengers in a single day.
The terminal offers state-of-the-art facilities for yacht owners, including 24-hour assistance, chandlery, dry storage, customs clearance directly from berth and free Wi-Fi coverage across the terminal.
The new development of Mina Rashid is expected to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global city and the premier cruise hub in the Middle East.
The first properties to be offered to investors are a collection of one-, two- and three-bedroom waterfront apartments and townhouses named Sirdhana after the British Royal Mail Ship, which was the first commercial vessel to dock at Port Rashid.
The first phase of the project, Seagate (formerly known as Sirdhana) comprises contemporary apartments with their glass façades, full height windows and balconies will provide prime views of the waterfront and Downtown Dubai. Amenities include a recreation room, community podium with a gym, children’s play area and recreational courts.
