Motor City Overview

Motor City is in Dubai Land and close to Arabian Ranches. The development comprises two residential areas and a business park set around a Formula 1 race track. A theme park that was part of the original master plan has been scrapped.

Here you can live in an apartment in one of the low and medium rise buildings in Up Town Motor City, or in a villa or townhouse in the Green Community. Owing to the size and variety of flats and villas available there is very mixed community of families, couples and singles of all nationalities, apparently living happily side by side.

A new GEMS Metropole School opened in September 2014 for pupils from Foundation Stage up to Year 13.

Several high rise towers in Motor City Business Park provide commercial space for offices and showrooms.

There is a very large Spinneys supermarket as well as a good selection of retailers, banks, pharmacies and opticians. Coffee shops and restaurants are plentiful as well as fast food outlets. First Avenue Mall opened in 2018 with an indoor-outdoor boulevard lined by 70 high street retailers and 15 casual dining restaurants. Attached to the mall is the four-star Park Inn by Radisson hotel.

The shared gardens and pools are well maintained and the area feels very safe with its landscaped gardens, walks, children’s play areas and swimming pools.

Motor City Amenities

As the name implies it helps if you like automobiles if you are thinking of living here, and one of the main attractions is being able to drive cars and motor bikes around Dubai Autodrome or go-karts on the Kartdrome. You can even cycle or walk round the circuit one night a week, but if the smell of fuel oil and burning rubber is not your bag then you can always head off to one of several gyms.

The motor racing calendar is impressive, kicking off each season with the prestigious Hankook Dubai 24H endurance race and including the UAE Sportbike Championship and the NGK Racing Series.

Although there are no licensed restaurants or bars in Motor City there is a lively street cafe atmosphere at night and a good variety of places to eat. For those who like alcohol with their food, restaurants in nearby Arabian Ranches and the Polo Club are always happy to oblige.

In January 2020 The Selfie Kingdom, Dubai’s first ever dedicated selfie museum, opened in Motor City. It has 15 pop-up rooms with different backdrops and props, with professional lighting to capture the very best selfies. The rooms will be changed every few months, and the ‘museum’ will also feature exhibits and installations from various artists, designers and innovators.

In September 2017 Union Properties (UPP) announced a new masterplan for MotorCity with a completed value of more than AED8 billion ($2.18 billion). UPP also signed an agreement with China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) to build the new mega development.

The new masterplan includes 44 new high- and low-rise buildings, more than 150 villas, and a range of residential, commercial, entertainment and hospitality facilities.

That breaks down into more than 11,500 apartments and villas, around 3,000 serviced apartments, 3,500 hotel rooms, a total of 46,000 square metres of retail space and more than 300,000 square metres of office space.

At the heart of the new masterplan is a new design for Union Properties’ Vertex, a mixed-use development with five towers, that will include a five-star hotel and serviced apartments.

Amazing Place
Quiet and serviced area
Motor City is an amazing place to live but the apartments are really expensive comparing with the property status. The owners are leasing the apartments without maintenance and they are using cheap companies for painting. The developer should not allow any owner to lease the apartment before doing full maintenance.

Motor City
The big green park (Windsor park)
Lack of funding for the community
Motor City is very family friendly. Lots of activities for moms, dads and children. There is a Boda dance center and a Fitness first, the biggest Spinneys in the UAE and food outlets from all around the world. The only downside is that the developer and maintenance company is not more… heads up with maintaining their commununity, so you have to be after them to get your stuff done. But the pros outweights the cons.Show less

I`m in love with this community
Green area, maintenance, cleanliness, relaxing and quiet
Public transportation limitations
Initially when I wanted to move to this flat, I was thinking that it is so far from the city center however having a car, you will be able to reach Sheikh Zayed Road in less than 15 minutes. The community is just calm and neighborhood is great. I plan more… not to move from Motor City but to move to a 2 bedroom and later on to the villas in the same area.Show less

Peaceful Pad
Greenery and peacefulness
Poor quality fixtures
Widcombe House is a quiet three-level building with a variety of apartment sizes. My husband and I chose to live in a studio which is a good size of 750 sq ft and also has a large balcony with views of tall leafy green trees. The fixtures are fairly basic more… and on the cheap side for quality. ServeU is the assigned maintenance crew who are sometimes responsive but need to improve on following up on jobs. There are several pools in the area and one outside our door which is mainly used for cooling off rather than any serious laps. Next to each pool there is a small gym room which includes 1 treadmill an elliptical machine, bike and weight machines. Since moving from the downtown area, we are now blessed with quiet, peaceful sleeps as the walls are quite sound proof. Many people enjoy walking their dogs along the paved paths. A short 5 minute walk away there are a variety of restaurants, cafes, pharmacies and salons along the main strip as you drive into the Motor City community. There is also a large Spinneys. GEMS school has just opened this past September and there is a nursery in the area. Show less

The best place to live in Dubai!!
The community the landscape the facilities
I have been living in Motor City for the last five years and I can say it without any doubt that its the best place to live in Dubai. The community is amazing and well maintained. Shops, schools, clinics etc. are all at a walking distance. The place is a more… bit pricy but considering the amenities here its a win win deal for the residents.Show less

Widcombe - Motor City
LOVE IT! Beats living downtown- noise and traffic! LOVE IT! My 2-bedroom apartment in Motor City is located in an amazing spot - far from downtown and all the loud traffic. Close to the wonderful AQ cycle track and quick access to the Rugby 7's grounds. It has the Motor City more… strip that offers groceries and plenty of restaurants to eat at and for take away. When wanting to go out, it's less than a 60AED cab ride towards the Marina or Madinat, and under 100 to get to the airport for the many travel weekends!Show less

It is a very awesome place. I liked it since my first visit, a year later I more… bought my own apartment. A home away from the city
Public transport
If you are looking for a escape from a bustling city and want to really have a place to relax and enjoy a great family time then this is your place, located just far enough to get away from the city but close enough to be where you want to more… be in a matter of minutes, especially if you have a vehicle, a quiet place that has a pool, gym and park where you can walk and run, also a pet friendly place with high quality security 24/7, the studio floor area is bigger than other paces which make this a really VALUE FOR MONEY!!Show less

Really nothing
Just an amazing place with easy access to Marina ( abt 10 min driving) and downtown( 15-17 min), perfect for kids , pets and everyone :) . Motor city is very green, quiet with big beautiful apartments which have huge balconies where you can make barbecue and even have a more… party ( if you choose Foxhill - their balconies not just huge , they are extra huge). There are Carrefour , Spinneys, Bluemart and Geant nearby . Just a perfect place to live :) Show less
