Meydan, or Meydan City as it is sometimes known, is a 40 million square foot development in Dubai currently in various stages of construction and planning.
Its centrepiece is the world famous Meydan Race Course which opened in 2010 and hosts the annual Dubai Cup, renowned for being the richest horse race in the world with $30 million in prize money up for grabs throughout the day including a $10 million prize for the winner.
There are a number of sub-developments under the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City umbrella. These include:
Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City - District Eleven, a community of villas and mixed-use developments including Emirates Airline housing, Meydan Villas, and The Kent College of Canterbury.
Meydan Heights, a townhouse community comprising 528 residences. It is home to the Emirates Airlines crew and includes a community centre and several mosques.
Meydan Avenue, which incorporates the Meydan Racecourse & Grandstand and The Meydan Hotel.
Meydan One, to be home to more than 83,000 residents with amenities and facilities including the 711m tall Dubai One Tower, Meydan One Mall, five-star hotels, a civic centre, an indoor sports facility, and a 4km canal and marina.
Horizon by Meydan, a mixed-use development with views over Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary.
Meydan Metropolis, a planned 350,000sq m commercial development designed by Malaysian architects TAK Design Consultants.
Millennium Estates, a residential development of 198 luxury villas next to the grandstand.
The Polo Residences, a small gated community of 29 five-storey luxury apartment blocks.
The Polo Townhouses, a collection of contemporary style townhouses located close to Meydan Racecourse.
The Meydan Free Zone, offering businesses a prime location and ease of incorporation.
The Meydan Group’s portfolio consists of The Meydan Hotel, Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa, The Track Meydan Golf, QUBE Sports Lounge, Meydan Tennis Academy, Dubai Equestrian Club, Emirates Equestrian Centre, Dubai Racing Club and the Meydan Racecourse, home of the world’s richest race day – the Dubai World Cup.
From Meydan it takes roughly 16 minutes to drive to Dubai Mall, 28 minutes to Palm Jumeirah, 26 minutes to Burj Al Arab and 32 minutes to The Walk JBR.*
Dubai International Airport (DXB) is roughly 33 minutes' drive and the new Al Maktoum International Airport is roughly 43 minutes' drive.*
