The project is being developed by Jumeirah Group through its subsidiary Marsa Al Arab Residences.

Marsa Al Arab is a luxury tourist destination planned for the Dubai coastline either side of the Burj Al Arab Hotel. It will consist of two islands with theme parks, boutique hotels and entertainment venues.

The project is being developed by Dubai Holding and the Jumeirah Group and was conceived as part of the government's 2020 vision to attract 20 million visitors to Dubai.

Marsa Al Arab comprises two islands with a total of four million square feet and will add 2.2 kilometres of new beachfront to the Dubai coastline.

The first island will be an exclusive luxury resort, while the second island will be dedicated to entertainment and family tourism.

The Marsa Al Arab islands will be home to many luxury tourist attractions including:

New Jumeirah Hotel
A new family-oriented hotel run by the Jumeirah Group will be opened alongside a new, larger Wild Wadi Waterpark which will be relocated from its current position behind the existing Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

Marsa Al Arab Marina
Marsa Al Arab will include a yacht club with a private marina complete with a helicopter pad, handy for those wishing to fly in.

Cirque du Soleil
A dedicated theatre with 1,700 seats will become home to the world-renowned show Cirque du Soleil for the first time in the Middle East.

Marine Park
A Marine Park 'edutainment' centre will be constructed on the tourist island and will include a 1,000 capacity theatre which will be located at the end of the park, designed to attract world-class shows that both showcase and allow visitors to interact with marine life.

Business Destination
Marsa Al Arab will also serve as a business destination, with commercial offices and a mixed-use convention centre that will have facilities for international conferences and festivals. A new hotel will offer corporate services for businesses.

Retail Destination
There will be 20,000 square metres of retail space which will take the place of the current Wild Wadi Water Park. The shopping centre will contain high-end brand retailers as well as restaurants and coffee shops.

Dubai Pearl Museum
Dubai Holding will launch the Dubai Pearl Museum to showcase a historical collection of rare and ancient pearls from the region and worldwide. The museum aims to highlight the UAE's heritage by showcasing the lives of the divers and the tools they used to find the precious jewels. The museum will even include a functional pearl farm in the adjoining sea. A pearl-inspired boutique hotel with unique facilities and specialist retail outlets will be located nearby.

Exclusive Private Island

The left island will include 140 luxury villas operated by the Jumeirah group which will have a private marina and views of the Burj Al Arab. There will also be a boutique hotel equipped with world-class facilities.

Marsa Al Arab will add 2,400 rooms to the Jumeirah Group's portfolio as well as 400 new food and beverage outlets.

The development will feature pedestrian pathways, a jogging track, a large swimming pool, a cycling course and 10,000 parking spaces. A rapid transport system will interconnect all the entertainments and resorts.

Marsa Al Arab will also offer 300 sea-view residential apartments in the heart of the development.




Construction Updates

The project is due to break ground - or ‘break sea’ - in June 2017. The entire project is scheduled for completion in late 2020, in time for the Dubai Expo 2020 exhibition.
