Dubai Silicon Oasis, a member of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority, functions as a technological centre and free zone for major corporations, small and medium-sized businesses, and start-ups seeking to establish a presence in Dubai.
Since its inception in 2005, the DSO community has expanded tremendously, with a population that in 2022 exceeded 90,000 members.
Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) is a state of the art technology park and free zone located at the intersection of Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road (E311) and Al Ain Road (E66), and next to Academic City.
It is one of the only free zones in Dubai where you can live as well as work. Besides office space, multi-use warehousing and manufacturing facilities, there are residential apartments, town houses and luxury villas.
DSO offers the latest infrastructure and in-house business services, and it also acts as an incubator for tech start-ups. The project was launched in 2004, and by 2016 more than two thousand companies had set up operations here.
DSO comprises four component parts: industrial, commercial, educational and residential, all served by public facilities.
In the two main residential areas, Cedre Villas and Semmer Villas, you can find both town houses and villas. Several high- and low-rise apartment buildings are to be found in Silicon Residences and Silicon Park. Properties are available to buy or lease.
Construction of more housing is continuing around the perimeter of the district.
There are two schools here, GEMS Wellington Academy and the Indian High School, as well as medical centres, community centres, shopping complexes, banks and a post office.

In November 2022 the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) announced the completion of a project to enhance the internal road network in Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), connecting it to the main roadways around the high-tech park.
It also widens the road leading to the crossroads to five lanes and adds pedestrian corridors and service roads on both sides of the road to facilitate access to DSO and the surrounding residential and commercial districts.
DIEZ is also growing its infrastructure by boosting green spaces that are integrated with smart sustainable technology, upgrading and extending internal roadways, adding additional lanes, minimizing the distance between connected places, and lowering commute time.
Executed in partnership with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the AED 50 million extension connects DSO’s internal road network with the Dubai-Al Ain Road for roughly 2.4 kilometres.
These initiatives are in line with Dubai’s aim of smart cities and innovation, as well as offering a seamless environment for people to live, work, and play.
