Marina Promenade was a masterplanned high-rise residential and retail community adjacent to the north entrance of Dubai Marina. The project was announced by developer Nakheel in 2008 with key attractions such as a wheel-shaped hotel, pedestrian walkways, panoramic views and a natural beach.
Land reclamation was undertaken in early 2008 with 650,000 cubic metres of sand and 750,000 tons of rock used to build a peninsular extending out to sea from the north entrance of Dubai Marina.
The main part of the project however never made it past the concept stage and the land has remained largely empty ever since other than the eastern section being used by Skydive Dubai, which opened in 2013.
The entire project has since been cancelled and replaced by the new Dubai Harbour project by Emaar/Meraas.
