Dubai Production City (formerly The International Media Production Zone, or IMPZ) is a mixed use 43 million square foot development in DubaiLand adjacent to Sports City.
The community was established in 2003 and is home to both commercial and residential buildings, although only about 40% of the available land has been developed.
Since its inception over a decade ago, development of the land has moved at an extremely slow pace. Most of the area is either in the very early stages of development or still desert. The cluster of lakes shown on the masterplan has only recently begun to appear in what for a long time were two shallow plastic pits.
On a positive note, however, there are now dedicated running tracks surrounding the lakes, although no landscaping has been carried out so the area is still fairly barren and dusty.
The saving grace of an otherwise fairly bleak community is the 'City Centre Me'aisem' retail development which includes a giant Carrefour supermarket as well as a bank and other much-needed local shops.
All of the above is reflected in the cost as Dubai Production City is one of the lower priced areas in Dubai.
