Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate has teamed up with Berlin-headquartered TIER Mobility to operate e-bike services in Dubai Festival City.
The idea is to make movement throughout the area seamless and affordable while being environment-friendly.
Residents and tourists can use TIER e-bikes by downloading a mobile application. Riders have the option to use ‘pay-as-you-go’ offered at a rate of AED 1 per minute of usage, or opt for a subscription model.
The e-bikes have pedal assistance up to 25 km/h. They are located at the Marsa Plaza promenade and will also be available at other locations around Dubai Festival City.
One of Festival City's main attractions is the flagship Ikea store, one of only two in Dubai.
The flagship Festival City Mall is home to a number of prominent British high street brands such as Marks & Spencer, Early Learning Centre, Mothercare and Boots.
Dubai Festival City is the flagship real estate endeavour of the Al Futtaim Group. When completed, upwards of 75,000 people will live, work and play within the development.
The focal point of Festival City is a new circular marina flanked by a crescent shaped Festival City Mall as well as the InterContinental and Crowne Plaza hotels, the Al Badia Residences and the Al Badia golf course.
As of 2022 only a small portion of the overall masterplan has been built. There are currently three residential communities at varying stages of completion:
Al Badia Residences is an established housing community with Mediterranean-style villas and town houses set in tree-lined streets. One-, two- and three-bedroom apartments are also available in several apartment buildings.
Al Badia Hillside Village is built on a landscaped hillside with views over the golf course and the city skyline. The first phase of this development comprises seven condominiums of studios and one- to three-bedroom apartments with courtyards and open terraces. The complex is designed in Arabic architectural style and offers apartments in over 145 individually designed layouts.
Marsa Plaza is a residential tower with 500 one-, two- and three-bedroom luxury apartments and three- and four-bedroom duplexes, 200 of which are serviced apartments. Facilities include a gym, two swimming pools and a restaurant.
Al Badia Terraces, launched in 2022, is a small community of apartment buildings overlooking Al Badia golf course.

Dubai Festival City Mall on the waterfront provides most of the shopping and dining you’ll need, with over 230 international and local retail stores and more than 60 restaurants and cafés. Entertainments include a cinema, bowling alley, kid’s play area and laser light show, Imagine, every evening.
The Al Areesh Club is located opposite the Universal American School and within the Al Badia Residences community of Dubai Festival City. The Club is set in landscaped surroundings and provides a wide range of health and fitness options for all ages, from gym equipment, outdoor swimming, aerobics classes, yoga and racket sports. There is also a pharmacy and separate hair and beauty salons for men and women.
Al Areesh Club also offers a range of activities for kids including birthday parties, summer camps, tennis coaching, ballet school, soccer and swimming lessons.
There are 335 outlets currently open in Dubai Festival City including 60 restaurants, 11 cosmetics shops, eight optician & eyewear shops, 16 perfume shops, a flower shop, three sweet shops, 21 jewellery/watch shops, 112 fashion shops, six coffee shops, four medical clinics, a sports academy, a car showroom, a mechanic, a trade office, 14 home stores, a government office, 10 pharmacies, a real estate office, two smoking accessories shops, a photo shop, six ladies' salons, three phone shops, a hypermarket, seven furniture shops, two bookshops, two men's salons, a music shop, a learning centre, a mini mart, a car rental shop, two dental clinics, four cafés, three eyeware shops, five toy stores, two health food shops, three ice cream shops, two gifts & entertainment shops, a stationary / art shop, an art gallery, a general store, a games venue, a trampoline centre, a children's play centre, two banks, a large supermarket, a watch repair shop, a currency exchange, two gyms and a tailoring shop.

Dubai Festival City has many schools nearby including Universal American School at 1.0 km and Al Mawakeb School Al Garhoud at 1.6 km.
In terms of performance there are five schools nearby that have achieved either of two highest government inspection rating of 'Very Good' or 'Outstanding' including Dubai English Speaking School which has a rating of 'Outstanding' and Universal American School which has a rating of 'Very good'.

The foundation works on the clubhouse at Al Badia Golf Resort have been completed by the Swissboring company. The clubhouse is due to be ready for use in late 2005.
The building spreads over three levels: the entry level will have a professional shop, public restrooms, a function room, food and beverage outlets and an upscale casual dining area. A private dining room wraps 270 degrees around the terrace area.
The locker room will be on the basement level and will contain a plunge pool, sauna, steam room, whirlpool, massage treatment room, and two VIP suites. There will be a similar set up in the women’s locker room.
The top floor will house the manager’s office and the owner’s suite that can also be used as a majilis level for private functions.
The lower floor will have two swing rooms, a professional’s offices, a lounge and a staging area for launching golf events.
Al-Futtaim Carillion has been awarded a Dhs 1.2 billion contract for the construction of the initial waterfront component of Dubai Festival City (Festival City Mall).
The project has a capital value in excess of Dhs 3 billion comprises a number of components including retail and marine facilities, a new high-rise InterContinental Hotel, a Crowne Plaza hotel and a high-rise office complex as well as undercover parking for 8,000 cars. The combined built-up area of this initial phase exceeds 6 million square metres.
Structural foundation work is underway for the two parking levels and support foundations for three levels of the mall above ground.
The estimated completion date is Q3 2006.
Groundbreaking and foundation work begins on the Al Badia Golf Resort clubhouse. Designed by international design consultants Wimberley Allison, Tong & Goo (WATG), the clubhouse is wrapped in a spiral form with golden roofs, stone and blue glass culminating in a central atrium with an interior oasis.
The 18-hole championship golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones II and its location, overlooking the 9th and 18th greens, will offer stunning views across the golf course, to the Creek, and on to the iconic Dubai skyline.
The clubhouse design is inspired by the Dubai Festival City logo and incorporates the theme of Al Badia, the 'Land Of The Bedouins'. It will contain a number of indoor and outdoor amenities including restaurants, lounges, a pro shop and banqueting facilities.
The 7,320 yards, par 72 course is expected to be completed by November 2004 with a public opening in January 2005.
The first phase of Al Badia Residences are now complete and residents have recently moved in.
