Boxpark Overview
Boxpark is a retail and restaurant development located on Al Wasl Road between Al Safa Park and Emirates Post Office. The project aims to duplicate the success of similar schemes in New York, London, Paris and Christchurch. The Boxpark development features a mix of local and international retail, restaurant, cafe, and entertainment brands. In the spirit of 'urban renewal' buildings are made from used warehouse containers. The concept was controversially lifted from a similar development with the same name in London's Shoreditch district. Early openers include Dri Dri, a retro all natural Italian gelato store, Polliwalks, a children's shoe store, Rundholz, a high street German fashion brand, Typo, a one stop destination of fashionable stationery and gifts, The Zoo, which sells innovative gifts, clothes, and accessories, Nike and Adidas Original. Many more outlets are scheduled to open soon inluding Mikado, The Brass, Bianca Mozzarella & Co., Yamaha Café, Jag Restaurant, Shish Fish, Number 3, Pitt Stop, The Melting Pot, Kuai, Classic Car Café, Filful, Ahwak, Logma, La Noisette, Big Smoke Burger, Grom, Love Mshy, Brownies Box, Marimekko, OnePiece and Imaginarium, Gossip Desserts, Bubbleology, Operation Falafel, Just Salad, Big Chefs, Studio Masr, Cioccolatitaliani, Markette, Yogurtland, Angels, Poupette à la Plage and Swatch. The project owners are currently engaged in a legal dispute with the UK-based originator of the Boxpark concept for copyright infringement of the name. They hope to settle out of court.
