Al Furjan Phase 1 contains 819 houses, all with gardens and terraces, half of which are terraced houses while the remainder are three, five and six bedroom detached villas, but there is still much building work to be done before the entire project is finished. However, investor demand following the announcement that Dubai was to host the 2020 World Expo resulted in the announcement of ten new residential towers and seven hotel apartments.
Al Furjan is Arabic for a ‘collection of homes’ or ‘small village’ and this place is designed to create a friendly, community environment among residents, with houses built in small clusters connected by a series of walkways and parks. All landscaping work, including more than 30 park areas and walkways representing a quarter of the Al Furjan master plan, is now complete.
From Al Furjan it takes roughly 29 minutes to drive to Dubai Mall, 21 minutes to Palm Jumeirah, 26 minutes to Burj Al Arab and 21 minutes to The Walk JBR.*
Dubai International Airport (DXB) is roughly 52 minutes' drive and the new Al Maktoum International Airport is roughly 37 minutes' drive.*
Al Furjan is situated alongside the D591 that serves Discovery Gardens, and the E77 Jebel Ali Road, both of which connect to Sheik Zayed Road, the principal spinal highway running the length of Dubai.
Notwithstanding traffic jams as you attempt to access these roads, the journey to Dubai Marina is 20 minutes, Dubai International Airport 40 minutes, the Mall of the Emirates 25 minutes and Downtown Dubai around 30 minutes.
The nearest mall, Ibn Battuta Mall, is less than 15 minutes drive and has its own metro station.
Al Furjan is now served by the new Dubai Metro Red Line extension, Route 2020, that links Nakheel Harbour & Tower station to the Expo 2020 site. The route was completed in May 2020.
The new Al Furjan station is located on the east side of the district, on the D591 road by Discovery Gardens.

Complementing Al Furjan’s terraced homes and villas is Masakin Al Furjan, a complex comprising apartments, a convenience store, café and leisure club with pool and gym. Membership of Masakin leisure club is available to everyone living in Al Furjan.
Al Furjan Pavilion, which opened in December 2016, houses a Spinneys supermarket, 10 food and beverage outlets, 24 shops, a Medicentre clinic and a car park for more than 300 vehicles.
The complex, which is located at the southern end of Al Furjan, includes Al Furjan Club which houses The Glasshouse restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating for 150 people, a 25-metre lap pool, children’s pool, sports court and fully-equipped gym with four fitness studios.
A second Pavilion at Al Furjan, including a mosque for 500 people, is under construction on the western side of the community.
In January 2017 Nakheel announced a series of new, linked cycle routes to be created around its communities in Dubai, including a 40km track through Discovery Gardens, Garden View Villas and Al Furjan. Work on the network of tracks started in mid 2017 and was expected to be finished in 2019.
There are 91 outlets currently open in Al Furjan including two children's nurseries, two laundrettes, 11 mini marts, two optician & eyewear shops, three cafés, nine supermarkets, two smoking accessories shops, six ladies' salons, a trade office, 10 men's salons, four pharmacies, 17 restaurants, two paint shops, two coffee shops, two real estate offices, two pet shops, a gym, two children's play centres, two medical clinics, a dental clinic, a butcher, a liquor store, a bookshop, a music shop, an ice cream shop, a learning centre and a flower shop.

Two serviced apartment buildings by Azizi Developments, Roy Mediterranean and Montrell, were delivered in January 2018, two more, Samia and Farishta, were delivered in early 2020, and a further three apartment buildings, Azizi Star, and Shaista, plus Plaza Hotel, all by the same developer, are scheduled for delivery by the end of 2020.
Together these seven buildings are adding over 2,000 homes to Al Furjan.
