106 Tower is a 445 metre super-tall skyscraper currently under construction in Dubai Marina. It was originally launched in 2008 but construction didn't commence properly until 2013.
A new design was unveilled in 2014 which featured an overhaul of the facade and a giant glass encased sky garden with a large hollow tube running through the middle.
Upon completion 106 Tower will be the second tallest tallest building in Dubai Marina after the Pentominium (currently on hold). It will overlook the current tallest Princess Tower.
The building will have 25 lifts which will travel at 8 metres per second.
The project is being developed by Mohamed Abdulla Al Sari, the founder and chairman of the Gulf General Investment Company (GGICO), at an estimated cost of AED 928 million.
Early published statistics suggest 442 apartments but we expect this is a mistake as many similar buildings average at least double that quantity - likewise with the parking spaces which seem low at 687 given there will be around 11 storeys worth of space.
Despite its extreme height it's unlikely that any of the apartments will enjoy a sea view. This is due to it's unfortunate location directly behind the Marina 101 tower which is almost as tall! The upper floors however will rise well above the towers to the south and offer great views over Dubai Marina.
By August 2016 the project had ran into financial financial difficulties and construction was put on hold.
From 106 Tower it takes roughly 20 minutes to drive to Dubai Mall, 10 minutes to Palm Jumeirah, 16 minutes to Burj Al Arab and 8 minutes to The Walk JBR.*
Dubai International Airport (DXB) is roughly 28 minutes' drive and the new Al Maktoum International Airport is roughly 35 minutes' drive.*
